Lutoslawski Given Postponement of Philharmonic Dates

Share

The scheduled April appearances by composer Witold Lutoslawski with the Los Angeles Philharmonic have been postponed. The Philharmonic will reschedule the concerts as soon as new dates have been finalized.

The postponement came at the request of the composer, who lives in Poland; no further details were available, according to a Philharmonic spokesman.

In place of the Lutoslawski’s portion of the April 15-17 program, Andre Previn will lead Copland’s “Statements for Orchestra” and “Appalachian Spring.” The remainder of the program will be the same as originally scheduled: Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D, K.314, with soloist Anne Diener Giles, and Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme by Haydn.”
