Prep Soccer Roundup : Diaz Scores, Servite Remains Undefeated, 1-0

Servite High School’s Robert Diaz’s first-half goal was all it took to keep the Friars undefeated as they beat Foothill, 1-0, in a game at Foothill Tuesday.

Goalie Geoff Moore had three saves for the Friars (6-0) and split time with Kyle Hunter, who had two saves. Foothill is 4-2.

La Habra 1, Los Altos 1--Dave Karaba scored in the first half for La Habra (4-2-3) in the game at Los Altos. Los Altos is 4-1-1.

Cypress 2, Hacienda Heights Wilson 1--Joey Chavez and Chad Rodriguez each scored for Cypress (4-2-2) in the home game.

Fountain Valley 1, Santa Ana Valley 1--Shawn Steffan scored for Fountain Valley (6-2-1) on an assist by Scott Holt, and Santa Ana Valley tied the game on a penalty kick.

In girls’ matches:

Los Alamitos 4, Cerritos 0--Jenney Reyes scored three goals as the Griffins, ranked third in the Southern Section 3-A, improved to 5-1-1. Goalie Lisa Staes had 10 saves for Cerritos (2-2).

Corona del Mar 1, Dana Hills 1--Helen Crowe gave Dana Hills the lead on a penalty kick early in the first half, but midway through the second half, Stacy Peterson tied the score. Both teams are 4-2-1.

Cypress 1, Pacifica 0--The Centurions remained undefeated (5-0) when Melissa Santos scored a goal with 10 minutes left in the match at Pacifica. Tracy Atherton had seven second-half saves for Pacifica (3-1).

Brea-Olinda 6, Long Beach Poly 0--Lisa Fey scored two goals as Brea-Olinda improved to 3-2-2.

Woodbridge 2, San Clemente 1--Tonya Bzurilla’s goal midway through the second half broke a 1-1 halftime tie as Woodbridge improve to 3-5.

Foothill 3, Irvine 1--Michelle McCain scored all three Foothill goals as the Knights (2-5) defeated Irvine, at Irvine High.

Marina 2, Newport Harbor 0--Vikings Tracie Long and Melanie Frakes each scored in the first half of the game at Newport Harbor. Goalie Jennifer Hicks had 11 saves for Newport Harbor (2-4) and Cayanne Kramer had nine saves for Marina (3-3-1).

La Quinta 1, Valencia 0--Lara Crowley scored the game’s only goal, as La Quinta improved to 5-1 in a home game.

El Dorado 3, Sonora 1--Shelley Pipper, Tamyra Noggle and Trina Porter scored for the Golden Hawks (2-0) at El Dorado. Sonora is 1-1-1.

El Toro 1, Torrance 1--Dawn Kluegel scored the game’s only goal at Torrance. El Toro is 2-1-4.

Esperanza 4, El Modena 0--The Aztecs (4-0), who haven’t allowed a goal this season, shut out the Vanguards (4-1) in a home game.
