Local News in Brief : Wildlife Protection Panel

The Rolling Hills City Council this week appointed six residents to an ad hoc wildlife preservation committee.

The committee, composed of Herb Agid, Flavio Bisignano, Don Gales, Christa Hawkins, Dotha Welbourn and Arvel Witte, will study the city’s wildlife and their habitats and will find ways of enhancing them.

Bisignano brought the fate of the city’s wildlife to the attention of the council last month. He said that in the more than 20 years he has lived in the community he has seen a reduction in wildlife populations. He blamed the waning populations of foxes, raccoons, possums, rabbits and birds on predators such as wild dogs and on development.
