There were big doings at the Ninth Latin American Film Festival in Havana late last week, where “Wall Street” and “Platoon” director Oliver Stone announced he planned to shoot his next movie in Central America. Stone-watchers say it concerns a rogue CIA agent who turns against the U.S. Stone won a special award at the Havana festival for “Salvador,” his depiction of civil strife in El Salvador. But “Tierra para Rosa”--a Brazilian documentary on land distribution conflicts in southern Brazil--won the festival’s highest award, the Gran Coral, an elegant black coral sculpture.
