Laguna Beach : Sobriety Checkpoint Snares Four Suspects
Police arrested four people on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) at a road checkpoint Saturday night and early Sunday in the 800 block of North Coast Highway.
The checkpoint was operated from 11:45 p.m. until 3 a.m. From a total of 235 vehicles stopped, 15 field sobriety tests were administered and four DUI arrests were made, Sgt. Danell Adams said.
Two other motorists were cited for having open containers of alcohol in their vehicles, Adams said. A total of 841 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, she said.
Laguna Beach police arrested eight motorists on suspicion of DUI in a similar checkpoint two weeks ago on Laguna Canyon Road. Adams said a third checkpoint will be conducted at an unspecified time in the next two weeks.
