Oceanside
A 24-year-old Marine, the victim of a motorcycle accident, was found dead Monday afternoon at the bottom of an embankment off North River Road in Oceanside.
The Marine, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was last seen leaving a Christmas party Friday evening, said Officer Phil Tate of the Oceanside Police Department.
A passer-by found the body about 1:30 p.m. Monday, near the 5700 block of North River Road and close to his 1979 Yamaha motorcycle.
Police said the body apparently had been at the scene for some time.
