Chicago’s well-known TV and newspaper film critics Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel have released a sneak preview of their Top 10 films of the year list. Ebert, film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, chose the Mel Gibson-Danny Glover buddy film-thriller “Lethal Weapon” as his top choice of the year, while Woody Allen’s fond look backwards to the pre-TV era, “Radio Days,” was the runner-up. The Chicago Tribune’s Siskel gave his most enthusiastic thumbs-up of the year to “Roxanne,” a modern update of the classic French play “Cyrano de Bergerac,” while second place in Siskel’s annual cine-pantheon went to “Moonstruck,” starring Cher and Nicolas Cage. The critics released their top two choices in advance of the Jan. 2 edition of their syndicated “Siskel and Ebert” TV program--when the rest of the Top 10s will be revealed.
