Munk Will Be Eligible to Play Jan. 9

USC center Chris Munk, who has missed the Trojans’ last three games because of academic reasons, will be eligible for the Jan. 9 game against Oregon State, Coach George Raveling said Thursday.
But Munk, a sophomore from San Francisco, will remain ineligible for the next three games.
Munk averaged 8.5 points and a team-high 6.7 rebounds while starting USC’s first six games. He was declared ineligible by the university after it discovered a discrepancy dealing with the dropping and adding of class units.
After USC officials brought the discrepancy to the attention of the National Collegiate Athletic Assn., the governing body ruled Munk had to sit out as many games--six--as he had played.
USC’s appeal was denied by the NCAA.
