High-Scoring Loyola Faces Holy Cross Tonight

Coming off its best game of the season, a 99-89 victory over Loyola of Chicago, Loyola Marymount will close out its holiday home stand tonight with a 7:30 game against Holy Cross.

The Lions have improved to 6-3, thanks to a 5-0 home record. They are also showing increased depth with Bo Kimble. Kimble, recovered from a knee injury, is averaging 20.3 points in three games off the bench, making him one of five Lions in double figures.

Hank Gathers leads the assault with an average of 24.2 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds. Corey Gaines is at 19.9 with 9.5 assists, followed by Mike Yoest at 15.8 points and 8.1 rebounds and Jeff Fryer at 11.9 points. Loyola is averaging 108 points, second in the nation behind Oklahoma.

Holy Cross, 4-4 after a 84-69 loss at Santa Clara, will be playing its fifth straight road game. The Crusaders are 2-4 on the road but have played a tough schedule, including three Big East teams. They scored one of their road wins at Providence.

The Crusaders are led by guard Dwight Pernell with a 16.5-point average.
