Disney’s Touchstone Pictures marketing executives were so tickled over critical reaction to its latest release--”Good Morning, Vietnam,” starring Robin Williams--that they decided to take a new tack in promoting the film. Readers can now call an 818-area code telephone number noted at the bottom of the newspaper ads to order full texts of the critics’ reviews. The ad, which appears in Los Angeles and New York papers, features favorable quotes from Richard Schickel of Time magazine, Gene Shalit of NBC’s “Today” show and Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, among others. A Disney spokesman said 40 calls have been received in Los Angeles since the ad first appeared Friday. Disney hasn’t yet decided if it will continue the campaign when the film opens nationwide Jan. 15.
