San Marino : Ban on Parties Approved

Share

The rental of large homes for parties will be prohibited under an ordinance that will take effect in mid-January. The City Council unanimously passed the law restricting commercial activity in residential areas after conducting several public hearings.

Residents complained that some homes are rented for large charity parties, causing frequent traffic and parking congestion and noise.

City Manager John Nowak said the new ordinance does not prohibit homeowners from giving occasional charitable, philanthropic or private parties, but prevents such activities if they are being held for profit. The new law also stipulates that private parties can be prohibited if they are so frequent that they are deemed a public nuisance.
