Local News in Brief : Orange : Car Theft Suspect Caught After Injury
A car theft suspect broke both of his heels when he jumped over a wall while trying to escape pursuing police officers, authorities said Tuesday.
Michael Gilbertson, 25, of Anaheim was arrested on suspicion of auto theft, receiving stolen property and evading arrest and was booked into the UCI Medical Center jail ward early Monday, Orange Police Detective Robert Johnson said.
Police, suspecting that Gilbertson was driving a stolen car, were pursuing him when he ditched the car at the City shopping center on City Boulevard East and then ran away, Johnson said. The car was later determined to be stolen.
