Local News in Brief : Checks Aren’t in the Mail
About 3,600 Los Angeles County checks picked up by the U.S. Postal Service on Dec. 23 have yet to be delivered and seem to have disappeared, officials said Tuesday.
Most of the checks were due to jurors for service in Los Angeles Municipal and Superior courts. About 300 were for court interpreters, Auditor-Controller Mark Bloodgood said.
Before new checks are issued, county officials plan to see if the lost checks are misplaced in a cranny of the post office.
