Pets Belonging to the Elderly, Disabled Can Get Free Ride to Neutering Clinic

The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is offering free transportation through Jan. 18 to its spay and neutering clinic in Downey for pets owned by senior citizens or disabled persons in the Southeast communities of Bell, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Maywood, East Los Angeles and Walnut Park.

Transportation will be provided by the 22-foot Pet Mobile Unit donated to the county by Actors & Others for Animals. Pets will be picked up and returned to their owners with no charge for the transportation service. The clinic, located at 11258 S. Garfield Ave. in Downey, spays and neuters dogs and cats at low fees.

People desiring more information may call the Pet Mobile Information Line at 862-3109, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
