Tammy Afraid to Fly, Jim Won’t Leave Her, So He Skips Meeting

Fallen PTL founder Jim Bakker says he missed a meeting with Assemblies of God officials to clear himself of homosexuality charges because Tammy Faye is afraid to fly and he won’t leave California without her.

Bakker had an appointment Wednesday in Dunn, N.C., with the Rev. Charles Cookman, district superintendent of the Assemblies of God church, which defrocked Bakker last year.

When Bakker failed to show, his attorney, Jim Toms, called to say Bakker could not make the trip.

“If she has a choice, she doesn’t fly”, Toms told a reporter today. “But in this case, it is mainly apprehension over the weather. I think Tammy is not an eager flier, but it’s essentially winter weather that had them apprehensive about making the trip. Besides, it was to be a private meeting; it isn’t anybody’s business.”
