John W. Klug, president and chief executive officer of American Pacesetter, a holding company located in Newport Beach, has donated $500,000 to USC for a fitness center to be built on the university’s campus in Los Angeles.

USC President James H. Zumberge said the 5,000-square-foot facility will have an array of exercise equipment for student and faculty use. He said the site will be called “the Klug Family Fitness Center.”

“As USC’s student population has become increasingly residential--a trend that has been developing over the past decade--we have worked hard to address a growing need for on-campus extracurricular activities,” Zumberge said.
