Local News in Brief : 4.5% Raise for Teamsters
Redondo Beach employees belonging to the Teamsters Union received a 4.5% raise after more than seven months of negotiations.
The City Council voted 3 to 0 Tuesday night to approve the two-year contract with the California Teamsters Public Professional and Medical Employees Union, Local 911.
The union represents about 80 maintenance and other blue-collar workers, who have been working without a contract since June 30. The 4.5% raise is retroactive to July 1.
Most of the employees got additional raises effective last Saturday, ranging from $20 to $170 a month, depending upon their classifications.
At the low end of the Teamsters’ salary schedule, monthly pay for maintenance workers was increased to a range of $1,561 to $1,776--up from $1,475 to $1,680.
At the upper end of the schedule, monthly pay for electrician lead workers was raised to a range of $2,448 to $2,802 a month--up from $2,321 to $2,659.
