A San Clemente man died early Sunday after he lost control of his car and crashed head-on into a recreational vehicle, authorities said.

Warren W. Williams, 43, was traveling west on Del Obispo Street west of Quail Run at 11:40 p.m. Saturday when he lost control and cut across the eastbound side of the street, California Highway Patrol dispatcher Jenny Keith said.

Williams’ car collided with a motor home driven by Michael W. Nemeth, 41, of Dana Point, Keith said.

Williams was pronounced dead at 12:16 a.m. Sunday at Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo. Nemeth was treated for moderate injuries at the hospital and later was released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Keith said there was no indication that alcohol was involved in the accident. She said it was not known how fast Williams was traveling, except that he was exceeding the road’s posted 35 m.p.h. speed limit.
