Retired Maj. Gen. John J. Singlaub said today he has been summoned to appear again before a federal grand jury investigating the Iran-Contra affair.

Singlaub said he was contacted by attorneys from the office of Independent Counsel Lawrence E. Walsh, who told him that they want to talk with him about the Iran-Contra matter even though he is not a target of a criminal investigation. Singlaub said Walsh’s aides have “learned a lot” about the case since he first appeared before the grand jury that is looking into the sale of U.S. weapons to Iran and the diversion of profits to the Nicaraguan Contra rebels.
