Royals to Ask Bo to Choose

The Kansas City Royals will ask Bo Jackson to choose between football and baseball, team co-owner Avron Fogelman said.

Saying the Royals are not interested “in continuing with this circus,” Fogelman plans to meet with Jackson this summer to get him to choose between the Royals and the Raiders.

Jackson “has to decide if he wants to be a baseball player or not,” said Fogelman, a Memphis real estate developer who has just purchased an additional 1% of the team to give him 50% ownership with franchise founder Ewing Kauffman.

Jackson is in the last year of his contract with the Royals. After completing the season, he played as a running back for the Raiders before injuring his ankle.

“I don’t know how this (meeting) will work out. But another year like last year could be very distracting for the Royals. We don’t have any desire to face that again,” Fogelman said.

“Frankly, Bo will have a tough time starting for our team next season. He’s not going to have a gravy train,” Fogelman said.
