Local News in Brief : Bomb Threat Empties Jet; Nothing Found
An Alaska Airlines jet was evacuated at Burbank Airport after a bomb threat Sunday, but no explosive device was found, airport police said.
An anonymous caller told the airline at 4:45 p.m. that a bomb was on Flight 751, police said. An unknown number of passengers were removed from the plane, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s arson and explosives squad was called to search the aircraft.
Airport police said the jet was declared safe for takeoff at 6:25 p.m. Alaska Airlines would release no information on the incident or the flight’s destination.
