Fire Destroys Seven Stores in N.Y. Town; One Injured

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. —
Fire burned through a commercial block early Tuesday, destroying seven stores and several offices, authorities said. The blaze, reported by a worker at a doughnut shop who discovered a fire in the ceiling, burned for six hours about a block from City Hall. One firefighter suffered a wrenched shoulder when debris fell on him.
