Services for Paul McGuire, longtime Southern California golf professional and former touring pro who died last Sunday of cancer, will be held today at Church of Our Heritage, Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina.

McGuire, 60, won the Southern California PGA championship in 1974, defeating Ron O’Connor at Mission Viejo, and won the 1982 Southern California PGA senior tournament at Jurupa Hills in Riverside.

After playing on the PGA Tour from 1950 to 1957, McGuire moved from Missouri to Southern California in 1964 to become head professional at the San Gabriel Country Club. He remained there until 1977 and then worked briefly at Los Serranos and Via Verde before joining Industry Hills as a teaching professional in 1979.

McGuire taught at Industry Hills until stricken by a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Sally Daniels; two grandsons, and a great granddaughter.
