Women’s Basketball : USC Goes for 9th Straight Win

The USC women’s basketball team, winner of eight straight games and tied for the lead in the Pacific 10 Conference, will play Arizona State tonight at 7:30 in the Campus Gym.
USC, ranked 16th in the country, is 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the Pac-10. Arizona State is 5-7 and 1-3.
Cherie Nelson, a junior center, continues to lead the Trojans. Her average of 21.2 points a game is second in the conference and she leads in rebounding with a 10.6 average. USC guard Paula Pyers is averaging 5.6 assists a game, second-best in the conference.
UCLA (9-6, 2-1), which had its six-game winning streak snapped in a 67-56 loss to the Trojans last Friday, will take on Arizona (3-10, 1-3) tonight at 7 at the Wooden Center.
The Bruins are led by senior forward Dora Dome, who is No. 1 on the team in scoring with an 18.1 average and No. 2 in rebounding at 7.5.
