Don Buford Jr., a two-year USC infielder, was named Division I winner of the first Woody Hayes Award given to the top male and female athletes in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.’s top three divisions. Basketball player John Nojima of Cal State Dominguez Hills was picked in Division II.
