Cheryl Ladd stars as a woman who breeds and races thoroughbred horses in “Bluegrass,” a four-hour movie that CBS plans to air Feb. 28 and 29. Also in the cast are Brian Kerwin, Anthony Andrews, Shawnee Smith, Diane Ladd, Mickey Rooney, Wayne Rogers and Kieran Mulroney.

Lauren Hutton and Perry King are cast as a married couple who embark on a fitness campaign that becomes obsessive in “Perfect People,” a TV movie that ABC will be broadcasting later this season. The film also stars Karen Valentine, David Leisure, Priscilla Barnes, Ronnie Schell and June Lockhart.

Former football star Joe Namath will be seen as himself on the Feb. 1 episode of “Kate & Allie.” In the show on CBS, Namath hires Kate (Susan Saint James) to be his assistant, causing problems in the catering business that she runs with Allie (Jane Curtin).

Cindy Williams, formerly of “Laverne & Shirley,” will be seen come March in a TV movie on cable’s Disney Channel. It’s a comedy called “Save the Dog!” about an aspiring actress with an endangered dog. Her co-stars are Tony Randall, Katherine Helmond, Charlotte Rae and Tom Poston.

Brian Garfield’s novel “Necessity” is being turned into a TV movie for CBS with Loni Anderson in the principal role of a former model whose life is turned upside down when she finds that her husband is involved in drug trafficking. James Naughton plays the husband, and John Heard is cast as a pilot who helps Anderson try to regain custody of her daughter.

Billy Crystal will be back for the second year as host of the 30th annual Grammy Awards. The three-hour broadcast, honoring the top recording artists of the year, will be broadcast on CBS March 2.

Lee Remick is starring in a movie for CBS called “Jesse,” which is being filmed in Arizona. She plays a woman who works tirelessly on behalf of the small desert community where she lives, only to be arrested for practicing medicine without a license.

Geraldo Rivera’s talk show, “Geraldo!,” has been renewed for a second season. Tribute Entertainment, which distributes the program, says it is now on 120 stations. Locally it is seen on KTLA Channel 5 but in March it is scheduled to move to KCBS Channel 2 where it will air weekdays at 4 p.m.

Stefanie Powers, a longtime advocate of wildlife preservation efforts in Africa, will produce and star in “The Beryl Markham Story,” a TV movie for CBS. It’s being filmed in Kenya and London. Markham grew up in Africa to become a pioneer aviator and a successful horse trainer.

James Farentino and Jennifer O’Neill have the lead roles in “The Red Spider,” a TV movie that CBS has ordered. He plays a police officer investigating a murder; she portrays an assistant district attorney.
