A Tustin bank customer was robbed Wednesday by a shirtless gunman who kidnaped him, drove him a short distance and then stole his car, police said.
The victim was unharmed and the gunman is still at large.
The incident began about 1:45 p.m. in front of California Federal Savings at 14232 Red Hill Ave. A man armed with a handgun approached a patron of the bank and demanded money, said Shawneen Raab, a spokeswoman for the Tustin Police Department.
The victim, whose name was withheld, gave the gunman $70. He was ordered at gunpoint to drive the suspect away from the scene, Raab said.
About a quarter of a mile from the bank, the gunman ordered the man out of the car, then stole the vehicle, Raab said.
Police found the car on Nisson Road, about a mile from where the victim was dropped off, Raab said.
Police have no suspects, Raab said.
