Services Held for G.C. Forster, 80, Great-Grandson of County Pioneer
Funeral services have been conducted for George Charles (Buddy) Forster, a member of one of the pioneer families of south Orange County. He died Jan. 22 at the age of 80.
Forster was the great-grandson of John (Don Juan) Forster, whose early-1800s ranch covered thousands of acres from what is now El Toro to Oceanside.
He was born in San Juan Capistrano and, except for four years, 1927-31, when he attended and played football for UCLA, had lived his entire life in that city, said his wife, Evelyne Pope Forster, to whom he was married in 1931.
Services were held Monday in the Serra Chapel at Mission San Juan Capistrano, followed by burial at the Mission cemetery, Evelyne Forster said.
In addition to his wife, Forster is survived by two sons, Robert Michael Forster of San Juan Capistrano, and John Forster of Rancho Palos Verdes; a daughter, Charlyne Melitas Enzweiler of Santa Barbara; two sisters, Melitas Forster of Indio and Vivian Cate of Northridge, and eight grandchildren.
