George Perles, who coached Michigan State to a 20-17 Rose Bowl victory over USC earlier this month, is the first choice to become the next coach of the Green Bay Packers, according to reports in Wisconsin.

Perles told reporters that he is uncomfortable with his name being mentioned for the job during the college recruiting season but didn’t rule himself out as a candidate. Lindy Infante, offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, is also considered a top prospect for the job.
