Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Woman’s Boyfriend Held in Ex-Spouse’s Stabbing
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of his girlfriend’s ex-husband during an altercation outside the woman’s apartment, police said Monday.
John Guardado Jr., 31, of Westminster was listed in fair condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange with a stab wound in the stomach, a spokesman said.
Huntington Beach Police Sgt. William Stuart said Guardado was denied entrance Sunday night when he tried to visit the Huntington Avenue home of his former wife, who was not identified.
As Guardado was leaving, David J. Gonzalez, 30, of Orange allegedly followed the victim. Stuart said the two men argued, then fought before Gonzalez stabbed Guardado in the stomach. He said the victim staggered away and collapsed half a block from the apartment.
Gonzalez was arrested at the residence and booked into Huntington Beach Jail. Bail was set at $250,000, Stuart said.
