Vienna’s Theater an der Wien production of the musical captivated Soviet foreign minister Eduard Shevardnadze when he saw it in 1986, and a spokesman for the company said Tuesday it was “99% sure” the Austrian cast would give an English-language guest performance at Moscow’s Operetta Theater in May.
