Jane Fonda’s show will go on in Holyoke, Mass.--despite a city resolution and protests by Massachusetts veterans opposed to the former anti-war activist’s presence in the town to shoot a film. Fonda’s spokesman said Thursday the actress is still “looking forward” to working in Holyoke. Veterans are opposed to Fonda working in the area because of her 1972 visit to Hanoi during the Vietnam War, and Holyoke aldermen on Tuesday night approved by an 11-4 vote a resolution opposing Fonda’s plans to shoot part of the movie in the hamlet. The spokesman added he thought it wrong for “a handful of people to presume to be prosecutor, judge and jury on something that happened 20 years ago.”
