Irvine Lake Continues to Yield Catches of Large Trout
Large trout continue to be the main attraction at Irvine Lake, but fishermen are finding the reservoir to be yielding a variety of other fish as well.
Jeff McCullough of Costa Mesa caught the biggest trout, a 12-pounder. Norman Shockley, also of Costa Mesa, caught the biggest fish, a 30-pound 7-ounce catfish.
Aside from those species, largemouth bass, crappie and even sturgeon are being caught on a regular basis, according to a spokesman at the lake.
