Local News in Brief : Job Solicitation Banned
Complaints by businessmen that they and their customers are being accosted on city streets by people soliciting employment prompted the Lawndale City Council on Thursday to approve an ordinance banning such solicitations.
Businessmen in the vicinity of Artesia Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue complained at Thursday’s council meeting about harassment and aggressive solicitations by day laborers.
Also, a law banning smoking in Lawndale city buildings, including the council chambers, was given final approval and will take effect in 30 days.
