Hammond Leads USC Women Past Oregon, 68-61

The USC women’s basketball team completed a sweep of its weekend trip to the Northwest with a 68-61 victory over Oregon Sunday at Eugene, Ore.

Kathy Hammond came off the bench to spark the Trojans, scoring 11 of her 15 points in the second half. She also led the team with eight offensive rebounds. Forward Karen Howell also scored 15 points, 11 in the second half.

The Trojans led, 37-27, at the half, but Oregon, led by center Stefanie Kasperski, who scored 32 points, took the lead at 46-45 with 8:34 left. The Trojans scored the last six points of the game.

USC, which beat Oregon State, 67-62, Friday night, is 13-5 overall and 7-2 in the Pac-10. Oregon is 10-10 and 3-7.
