USC and UCLA, with several key verbal commitments, are both expected to conclude fine football recruiting campaigns today, when high school players can begin signing letters of intent.

The Bruins, who had one of the top classes last season, already have verbal commitments from some of the top players in the country, with several others undecided. Running back Kevin Williams from Spring, Tex., linebacker Meech Shaw from Ponca City, Okla., quarterback Bret Johnson from El Toro, running back/linebacker Willie Crawford from Beverly Hills and offensive lineman Brian Jacobs of Hart of Newhall are the top names.

USC has landed linebacker Jeff Pease of Mission Viejo, offensive lineman Keith Siscel from Vacaville, Calif., linebacker Matt Gee from Arkansas City, Kan., defensive backs Stephon Pace from Bishop Amat of La Puente and Lamont Hollinquest of Pius X of Downey, among others.
