Afull-service Department of Motor Vehicles facility will be serving Simi Valley and Moorpark residents before the end of the year under a plan approved this week by the Simi Valley City Council.
“For more than 30 years we’ve been dealing with DMVs in other communities,” council member Vicki Howard said. “I think this is great.”
The council Monday night approved a construction plan and leasing agreement with the state. State officials still must approve the $10,250 monthly lease, but Deputy City Manager Jay Corey expects to close the transaction within two weeks. “It’s just a matter of the attorneys sitting down and working out the details,” he said.
Construction of the $1.1-million facility is to begin June 1 at the southwest corner of the city’s Civic Center property.
