More survey: Are you one of those people who smacks your lips and drools at the mere mention of a nice, tasty Big Mac or Big Del?

If you are, chances are that you are also a well-educated man who sees himself as “adventurous, successful, career-oriented” and, believe it or not, “sophisticated.”

That is all according to a food industry study released recently by the Food Marketing Institute and the Campbell Soup Co.

The survey found big differences between fast-food fanatics and those who infrequently take out their dinners.

Of those who said they eat takeout food at least twice a week, 41% to 55% see themselves as “modern (up-to-date)” and the sophisticated career type. The 1987 study of 614 households also revealed that a whopping 84% of men pick up fast-food during one month, compared to 75% of women. Men spend about $14.40 per week on takeouts compared to $11.80 a week for women, according to the survey by the Washington-based trade association.

On the other hand, if you are one of those who would rather chomp on homemade pot roast or meat loaf, you probably view yourself, the study said, “as home-centered, old-fashioned, traditional and tired.”

But apparently not too tired to whip up a little something for dinner.
