Carlos Monzon, former world middleweight champion who is under arrest for the alleged slaying of his wife, was heckled by a crowd of 500 at Mar del Plata, Argentina, when he was taken from a hospital where he was treated for injuries.

The crowd yelled, “murderer! murderer!” at Monzon, who is considered Argentina’s greatest boxer.

Monzon, 46, and his late wife, Alicia Muniz, 32, fell out of the first floor of a Mar del Plata home, owned by a mutual friend, Sunday after an apparent quarrel. Muniz, a model, died and Monzon suffered rib and shoulder bone fractures.

Monzon was taken to a resort home by police to re-enact the circumstances of the alleged slaying of his third wife. Mounted police dispersed the crowd, which trampled the lawns of nearby homes to taunt him.
