San Francisco Supervisor Harry Britt, accusing Olympics officials of homophobia, wants to bar his city from hosting a future Summer Olympics. Britt, a leader in the city’s gay community, attacked the U.S. Olympic Committee for holding an exclusive right to use the word “Olympics” and the five-ring Olympic emblem. The committee allows only certain groups, such as the Special Olympics, to use the term and recently won a lawsuit against the Gay Games for infringing on its rights. “You don’t find the same kind of harassment against the Police Olympics (and other events and clubs using that title) that you find against the Gay Games,” Britt said. At Britt’s request, supervisors agreed to a two-week del1635328111are held to try to work out a compromise.
