Porn Film Makers Don’t Go Far Enough; 3 Are Arrested

The co-producers and director were looking for a ranch house just outside the Los Angeles County line to shoot their newest X-rated movie, “The Best of Both Worlds.”

Filming outside the county meant not having to deal with Los Angeles-area law enforcement authorities, who have a long history of raiding pornographic films in progress. The huge spread with a multimillion-dollar home in Valyermo in the wide-open Antelope Valley seemed perfect.

But it had one flaw--a flaw that the film makers discovered only when sheriff’s vice investigators came knocking Thursday.

“They took special pains to try and film outside the county,” said Lt. Dan Burt. “In reality, they were a full half a mile inside.”

Arrested and charged with pimping and pandering were Nicholas M. DeMartino, 45, of North Hollywood, Vaughn Kinley, 46, of Los Angeles, and Ronel Huth, 28, of Glendora. They were being held on $5,000 bail.

Sheriff’s deputies said DeMartino and Kinley, described as co-producers, and Huth, the director, are longtime members of the X-rated film industry.

Investigators questioned but did not arrest several performers, who ranged in age from 19 to 23 and were supposed to receive $500 to $2,000 for the three days it would take to shoot the film.

“There was some livestock involved. There was a group of young people. . . . You can let you imagination run wild,” Burt said.

Burt said the owner of the ranch rented it to a third party and apparently was unaware that it was going to serve as backdrop for a porno movie.
