The district attorney’s office in San Francisco, in a report to be released Monday, has determined that the fatal shooting of a retarded boy by two police officers was justifiable. Silvelio (Tony) Grohse, 13, was shot dead on Potrero Hill on Wednesday by two officers responding to reports of a gunman on a hillside near a housing project. The boy, who lived in the project, reportedly let out a “Tarzan-like” yell and aimed his toy gun at the officers when they told him to drop the realistic-looking weapon. The officers said they opened fire only after repeated warnings and when the severely retarded boy “directly pointed” the realistic-looking gun at them and “began advancing toward them in a hostile manner,” the police report said.
