There’s more cultural collaboration afoot between the superpowers. The New York Times reported that a U.S.-Soviet commission on theater and dance has been established between The American Council of Learned Societies and the Soviet Theater Union. The 15-member U.S.-U.S.S.R. Commission on Theater and Dance Studies will examine theater and dance history, theory, criticism and practice when it meets late this year. Leader of the seven American representatives: Kalman A. Burnim, president of the American Society for Theater Research and a Tufts University professor.
