“The Red Sorghum Field”--an epic Chinese film about seduction and war in China--won the best picture award Tuesday at the 38th Berlin Film Festival. The best director prize went to Canadian Norman Jewison for his romantic comedy “Moonstruck,” and Holly Hunter was named best actress for her portrayal of an ambitious TV producer in “Broadcast News.” Jorg Pose and Manfred Moeck shared the best actor honors for their work in the East German entry “Bear Ye One Another’s Burden.” Zhang Yimou, director of “The Red Sorghum Field,” studied at the Beijing Film Institute and won the best acting award at the 1987 Tokyo Film Festival for his role in the film “The Old Well.”
