Temple City : Anti-Graffiti Ordinance

Share

There is very little graffiti in Temple City, and officials want to keep it that way.

So the City Council has tentatively approved an ordinance making residents responsible for cleaning up graffiti on their property.

Graffiti attracts more graffiti, said Steve Willkomm, the city’s code enforcement officer. Since it is hard to catch the violator in the act, he said, it will be up to property owners to remove the graffiti within 10 days after the city issues a public nuisance notice.

If the council acts on the second reading of the ordinance at its meeting Tuesday, as expected, the ordinance will take effect in 30 days. No one spoke against it at a public hearing Feb. 2.
