“TV’s Best Adventures of Superman, Volume 3.” Warner. $29.98. Christopher Reeve may wear the cape these days, but what many of us remember are the TV episodes with George Reeves as Superman, Noel Neill as Lois Lane and that rush of wind: “Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!” The two episodes on this tape are “Panic in the Sky” (1953, black-and-white), about a meteorite headed for Earth, and “The Big Freeze” (1955, color), in which Superman is lured into a deep freeze that gives him amnesia, and they’re delightful. An added attraction: a beautiful 1942 Superman cartoon, “The Magnetic Telescope,” made by the great Max Fleischer. It’s gorgeous and streamlined and a better medium (at least, in that day and age) for the science-fiction escapades of Superman, as the ‘50s TV special effects are basic at best. Information: (818) 954-6000. *** 1/2
