A toddler who fell from a fourth-story window in downtown San Diego and came out without a scratch was in good condition at Children’s Hospital on Tuesday evening, a spokeswoman said.

“She has no apparent injuries,” hospital spokeswoman Terry Merryman said. “We’re keeping her for observation to make sure she doesn’t have any internal injuries.”

On Monday, 20-month-old Brigitte Beauchamp apparently managed to push a window screen in her family’s apartment free of its frame while her mother was in another room. She tumbled out the window but her fall was broken by a chaise lounge on the patio below.

An ambulance was called to the scene, but paramedics who examined the child found no evidence of scrapes, bruises or broken bones. They rushed her to Children’s Hospital for tests.

Merryman said Brigitte had spent a day under observation and “seems fine.”
