St. John’s sophomore Jayson Williams was arrested after he wound up and threw a folding chair into the crowd at the Providence Civic Center Saturday after his ejection from a game.

Williams was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after his team lost to Providence College, 90-81. He posted $150 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

The 6-foot 9-inch Williams, ejected from the game after fighting with Providence’s Abdul Shamsideen, threw the chair into the partisan crowd after he reached the bench.
