Syntex Corp. and Procter & Gamble Co. announced that they have agreed in principle to form a joint venture company that will market non-prescription products to treat pain and inflammation. An over-the-counter formulation of Syntex’s Naprosyn may be among the products marketed by the new joint venture if the Food and Drug Administration approves it to be marketed without a physician’s prescription. Naprosyn is a prescription non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory product used to treat arthritis.
