Rep. Richard A. Gephardt (D-Mo.) today acknowledged his dismal Super Tuesday showing but insisted that “the race is still on” as he attacked two of his Democratic presidential rivals on trade.

Standing outside a textile mill threatened with closure in a state that holds its caucuses Saturday, Gephardt said of Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis and Sen. Albert Gore Jr. of Tennessee, “The bottom line is, are they really for new policies?” Gephardt blamed his fourth-place Super Tuesday showing on a lack of money.
